When roadside help may be enough
- The conventional 12-volt system is discharged
- A compatible mobile charging service operates locally
- The vehicle is safe and the manufacturer permits the procedure
When a tow is the safer option
- The high-voltage traction battery is depleted
- There is battery damage, smoke, heat or a warning to exit the vehicle
- The correct charging connector or mobile service is unavailable
What to tell the provider
Clear information helps a dispatcher send the right vehicle and equipment. Provide:
- Exact make, model and model year
- State of charge and dashboard warnings
- Charging connector type
- Manufacturer towing requirements and destination charger
Check coverage before service begins
Roadside plans and providers impose different mileage, labor, vehicle and parts limits. Ask what is included, the destination, total estimated charge and accepted payment method before authorizing work.
