When roadside help may be enough
- The provider confirms the vehicle class, weight and tire size are supported
- The location has safe access for a heavy service vehicle
- The fault can be addressed with mobile tire, battery, fuel or minor mechanical service
When a tow is the safer option
- The vehicle needs heavy recovery, uprighting or specialized transport
- There is collision, brake, steering, axle or driveline damage
- Roadside work would expose the technician or vehicle to unsafe traffic
What to tell the provider
Clear information helps a dispatcher send the right vehicle and equipment. Provide:
- Vehicle type, gross weight and overall dimensions
- Tire size, axle position and trailer status
- Cargo, passenger or refrigeration considerations
- Exact location, access restrictions and visible damage
Check coverage before service begins
Roadside plans and providers impose different mileage, labor, vehicle and parts limits. Ask what is included, the destination, total estimated charge and accepted payment method before authorizing work.
