- The correct fuel type is known
- The vehicle is in a safe, accessible location
When a tow is the safer option
- The wrong fuel was added
- The vehicle does not restart after receiving the correct fuel
- There is a fuel leak, fire risk or impact damage
What to tell the provider
Clear information helps a dispatcher send the right vehicle and equipment. Provide:
- Gasoline or diesel and the required grade if known
- Your exact location and direction of travel
- Vehicle year, make and model
- Whether any incorrect fuel may already be in the tank
Check coverage before service begins
Roadside plans and providers impose different mileage, labor, vehicle and parts limits. Ask what is included, the destination, total estimated charge and accepted payment method before authorizing work.
