When roadside help may be enough
- A minor fault can be repaired safely where the vehicle stopped
- A jump start, spare tire or fuel delivery could get the vehicle moving
- The vehicle is in a safe position away from traffic
When a tow is the safer option
- The vehicle has collision, steering, brake or wheel damage
- It is overheating, leaking fluid or showing a serious warning
- There is no usable spare tire or the EV traction battery is depleted
What to tell the provider
Clear information helps a dispatcher send the right vehicle and equipment. Provide:
- Your exact location and direction of travel
- Vehicle year, make, model and drivetrain if known
- Whether it rolls, steers and has all four wheels
- Preferred destination and whether passengers need transport
Check coverage before service begins
Roadside plans and providers impose different mileage, labor, vehicle and parts limits. Ask what is included, the destination, total estimated charge and accepted payment method before authorizing work.
